Mary Elizabeth Willcott

Expressive Arts Student Therapist

Mary Elizabeth Willcott is an Expressive Arts student therapist who believes that healing does not require having all the “right words.” She incorporates expressive arts therapy in a variety of ways, including visual art, movement, writing, music, drama, imagination, and play, while gently weaving meditation and mindfulness into her sessions.

Mary views art-making as a process of exploration and connection rather than performance or perfection. Her approach is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and grounded in the belief that each client is the expert in their own lived experience. She strives to create a space that feels gentle, affirming, and collaborative, tailoring her work to meet each individual’s unique needs. Her practice is strength-based and client-centred.

In addition to her clinical training, Mary brings over 18 years of experience providing direct support to individuals in the disability community, with a focus on coaching and life-skills development.

Mary’s clinical focus is with teens and young adults (under 40). She has experience supporting individuals with a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Neurodivergence
  • Disabilities
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Cancer survivorship
  • Chronic illness
  • Major life transitions
  • Caregiving
  • Burnout

Outside of the clinic, Mary enjoys spending time in nature with her family. She loves gardening, walking, laughing with friends, snuggling her senior cat Willow (and any pet she meets), attending theatre performances, and enjoying delicious coffee and tea.
