Nadia Barakeh, M.Psy
Nadia is a clinical psychology doctoral intern who brings warmth, care, and a thoughtful approach to supporting children, adults, and families. She holds a master’s degree in psychology and is currently completing her doctoral training in clinical psychology. Nadia’s professional journey began in education, where she worked as a teacher supporting children with exceptionalities and identifying learning needs. She later moved into clinical and advocacy roles, supporting survivors of intimate partner violence and their families. These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of how developmental, relational, and systemic factors influence mental health and well-being.
Nadia works from a strength-based, collaborative framework, partnering closely with clients to foster self-awareness and meaningful, sustainable change. She values creating a supportive and respectful space where clients feel understood, and she tailors her work to each individual’s goals, cultural context, and personal values.
Her therapeutic approach is integrative and flexible, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Rather than relying on a single approach, Nadia thoughtfully adapts her work to best meet each client’s needs.
Her practice is grounded in principles of diversity, anti-oppression, and anti-racism. Nadia has extensive international and local experience working with diverse populations and BIPOC communities. Her global experience contributes a multicultural, applied, and lived perspective to her work.
In addition to therapy, Nadia specializes in comprehensive psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments for children and adults. She assesses attention, behaviour, anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and socio-emotional functioning. Her assessment process is collaborative and evidence-based, with a focus on clarity, understanding, and practical recommendations that support clients at home, school, and work. She also works closely with families, schools, and community agencies to help connect clients with appropriate supports.
Nadia is committed to ethical, client-centred care and ongoing professional development, integrating current research into her practice. She has a particular interest in supporting women’s psychological well-being and self-development.
Nadia provides psychological services in English and Arabic, and psychoeducational assessments in English and French.
