Melanie is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), a Master of Social Work (MSW), and brings years of experience working with children, youth, and adults both locally and abroad. Her experience with diverse populations has allowed her to form an affirming, inclusive, culturally safe, and trauma-informed lens in her practice.
Melanie has always had a passion for helping and supporting children, youth, and adults. Her training has included many CBT courses for anxiety and depression, classes in executive function, and workshops such as Smart but Scattered: Enhancing Executive Skills, Adoption Competency Mental Health, Understanding the Profoundly Gifted Path, and Effective Use of Gradual Exposure in the Treatment of Anxiety. Melanie also has years of experience offering Coping Cat, an evidence-based cognitive behavioural treatment tailored for children with mild to moderate levels of anxiety.
Melanie is married to a registered psychotherapist. She and her husband have two daughters in university, a chubby gray cat, a very loud black kitty, and a fluffy black rescue puppy named Indie. In her spare time, Melanie volunteers with a community garden and spends time working with neighbourhood clean-up crews for local parks.
